I. Project „Forgotten Female Names"
The work on this project had already started before the registration of the organization.
Within the framework of the project:
· Collection of material about Russian women in Russian history with the main emphasis on: women in the fields of science, literature, art; women as public figures
· We encourage students of different colleges and universities of St. Petersburg to write their papers and theses about one of the topics mentioned above
· We plan to carry out lectures and seminars on the history of Russian women in the academic year of 1995, both at the non governmental college „Orient West Link" and at other colleges, gymnasiums and schools of the city.
· We worked out a conception and collected material for the exhibition „Life and Work of A. Filosova"
· We prepared publishing of a dictionary-reference book by Y. Dibrov „Maid of Honour at the Russian Tsarist Court"
· We plan to carry out literature exhibitions about women on the basis of and in cooperation with the library of the Vasileostrovski district.
· Publication of articles/speeches on conferences about the topic „Achievements of women in the different spheres of life" (for example, members of the board took part in the following conferences: "Russian Women and the European Culture" which took place in St. Petersburg in November 94, and "Women in a Changing World", St. Petersburg, June 95)
II. There is also working a historical-cultural commission of the board, mainly focusing on
· Women's education in Russia: Theory and Practice" - a research work together with the department of Pedagogical History of St. Petersburg Pedagogical University
· "Women as Public Figures" - preparation of a collection under the same name in cooperation with staff members of different scientific institutions of St. Petersburg.

14. Projects and Own Programmes Project „Women in modern society and in Russian culture"
The work on this project was started at the scientific seminar „Women and Civilization".
Within the framework of this project:
· Carrying out of a complex sociological research on the problems of life-style of groups that differ socioculturally and agewise with priority to „Elder women in Russia", „Women within the university system".
I. The programme „Elder women in Russia" is a long-term research work on the
problems of elder women, an elaboration according to results of a research programme of social adaptation, practical recommendations for power structures, social security services, public organizations, providing of material for the mass media.
II. The programme „Women within the university system" is a long-term research
work about the problems of women´s (students, postgraduate students, and teachers) work and activities within the university system., and an analysis of the upcoming problems. Working out of a programme to support women within the university system is being planned.
· Carrying out scientific and conferences of applied research, „round tables" etc. on women´s/gender problems. Within the framework of the international conference „Social Reforms in Russia" in 1994 a round table „Women in Russia in the Process of Social Reforms" was organized.
· With the material of the round table we prepared an anthology „Russian Women in the Process of Reforms".
· Implementation of educational programmes on gender problems for students, postgraduate students, teachers and research workers of the university
· Attracting students for sociological research work with priority to the centre´s main emphasis
· Offers consultations, scientific advice and help with regard to papers and theses for students.
· Gives scientific support to students from European universities in internships about the given problems
· Offers scientific consultations for scientists and teachers form European and North American universities on the problems of life-styles of different age groups in Russia
· Prepares scientific publications of the results of the centre´s work.

Within the framework of the project
A. A two days programme for women who write about female problems was carried
out in St. Petersburg. The following topics were discussed : attitudes towards women´s problems and the comparison of stereotypes in the relation of women and men in the mass media, the official and independent press in the East and West
B. Seminars/training programmes for women´s groups in London and Brussels under
the name „Information as a means of changes" were carried out. Discussed topics: examination of the print market, improvement of professional skills, copyright problems , exactness of information etc.
Participants of the seminar became acquainted with the work of the women´s publishing house „Virago" in London, the work of different public organizations. As a result of these seminars female journalists and chairwomen of women´s organizations in Moscow and St. Petersburg coordinated the positions and ideas and worked out a joint strategy.
C. A final seminar/training in Moscow on the work with computers and of e-mail
usage is planned for October 95.
Publishing a collection of articles by the women having participated in the project is being planned.

· Office hours for citizens three times a week
· Organization of the work of independent medical experts
· Work with military authorities, representative power to expound to them the problems of draftees and servicemen
· Collection of materials on the violation of human rights at conscription and during military service. The material will be provided for all interested people and will also be published. For example, at a session of the European Parliament on Jan. 20th, 1994 a protocol was approved on the violation of human rights in Russia at conscription , during military service and in prisons; the protocol was based on our organization’s materials.

I. Long -term project „Scholarships": material support for girls in difficult situations
II. Support to young talents. Involvation of young musicians and pupils of musical
schools and academies of our city in measures, carried out by our club, which has a positive influence on the creative growth of the young musicians, on acquiring experience and improving their image.

· Educational programmes (courses on business etiquette, work on the personal
computer etc.).
C. The centre will occupy an area of approx. 200 square metres.

I. Aim of the project: exploration of the extents of physical, psychological and moral
violence against women in St. Petersburg on the basis of the Social First Aid Service „Gynekey" with a place of refuge for women (and also for their children) who underwent violence in society (including people with whom they lived together).

· Completion of the juridical registration at the municipal administration
· Social First Aid Service „Gynekey" in cooperation with the Committee for Social Problems of the mayor’s office
· Working out of a detailed method to help victims of violence
· Maintenance and repair of the building which we have just obtained

· Fixing staff plan, internal rules of organization and questionnaires for the clients of the service
· Training for the staff in courses for feminist psychotherapy by consulting foreign lecturers
· The first clients should be served at the end of the year
· Four staff -members should be sent abroad for an internship with similar refuge houses
