Why the HotPeachPages is so important!

* to the World! * to the USA! * to Canada!
* Why Google isn't enough!

back to top The HotPeachPages is one of the most important websites in the world in 2014 because

  1. Ending violence against women and girls worldwide is currently a top priority of the international community:
  2. By listing available hotlines, helplines, and shelters for every country in the world, the HotPeachPages provides universal access to available services to every woman and women's agency connected to the internet, thereby assisting in the implementation of national VAW (violence against women) action plans around the world i.e. Goal 2.

back to top The HotPeachPages is THE most important VAW site in the world in 2014 because

  1. The HotPeachPages is the only global VAW directory in the world.

  2. The HotPeachPages provides VAW agency information for every country in the world and offers abuse information in over 100 languages, far more than any other VAW site on the internet.

  3. If the HotPeachPages became a global ‘household-name’ overnight, the VAW information needs of perhaps 50% of the world’s women would be solved, immediately.

  4. Essentially, if you live on planet Earth and are looking for videos, you go to YouTube; if you live on planet Earth and are looking for VAW information, resources and support, go to the HotPeachPages.

back to top The HotPeachPages is THE most important VAW site in the USA in 2014 because

  1. The HPP is the only site that lists all the other agencies, so only one web address is needed to find everything that’s available, everywhere in America:

    • The HotPeachPages links prominently to all USA national VAW and sexual assault agencies, and all but one of them links to the HotPeachPages.

    • For every state, the HotPeachPages links prominently to:

      1. VAW and sexual assault umbrella agencies (which list local agencies), and,

      2. if available, sites specialized for:
        • asian women,
        • same-sex partners,
        • legal information, and
        • resources for abusers, plus

      3. a backup list (AARDVARC: An Abuse, Rape, and Domestic Violence Aid and Resource Collection) in case a state-wide site is down,

      all in one place.

  2. Many women living in the United States today have mother tongues other than English. With the information in A. above, plus abuse information in over 110 languages, the HotPeachPages meets the VAW information needs of almost every woman living in the USA who comes to the site. No other site is close to offering that.

  3. Using the HotPeachPages, every VAW direct service provider in the USA (shelters, crisis centers, women's centers, etc.) can print out pamphlets on abuse for their clients, in any one of 110 languages, on demand.

  4. With the HotPeachPages, no matter where in the world an American citizen lives or travels, the web address to find contact information for both American agencies and local agencies is always the same: hotpeachpages.net.

  5. The HotPeachPages makes it easy for women living in the United States to tell mothers, sisters, daughters or friends living in countries around the world where to find VAW help and information: hotpeachpages.net.

back to top The HotPeachPages is THE most important VAW site in Canada in 2014 because

  1. The HPP is the only site that lists all the other agencies, so only one web address is needed to find everything that’s available, everywhere in Canada:

    • For every province, the HotPeachPages links prominently to:

      1. VAW and sexual assault umbrella agencies (which list local agencies), and,

      2. if available, sites specialized for:
        • services in French,
        • Aboriginal family violence resources, and
        • resources for abusers, plus

      3. backup lists (provincial governements lists, CASAC, HotPeachPages) in case a province-wide site is down,

      all in one place.

  2. Many women living in Canada today have mother tongues other than English. With the information in 4.A. above, plus abuse information in over 100 languages, the HotPeachPages meets the VAW information needs of almost every woman living in Canada who comes to the site. No other site is close to offering that.

  3. Using the HotPeachPages, every VAW direct service provider in Canada (shelters, crisis centers, women's centers, etc.) can print out pamphlets on abuse for their clients, in any one of 110 languages, on demand.

  4. With the HotPeachPages, no matter where in the world a Canadian citizen lives or travels, the web address to find contact information for both Canadian agencies and local agencies is always the same: hotpeachpages.net.

  5. The HotPeachPages makes it easy for women living in Canada to tell mothers, sisters, daughters or friends living in countries around the world where to find VAW help and information: hotpeachpages.net.

back to top Is the HotPeachPages really needed? Isn't Google enough?

  1. Not every issue or topic is best served by Yahoo! or Google. Google purchased YouTube for $1.65 billion in 2006 for two reasons:
    • so a competitor wouldn't buy it, and
    • because YouTube is a better way to find videos than Google is.

  2. Well, the HotPeachPages is a better way to find abuse information than Google is. By far. Just as an example, when I googled "international domestic violence" on June 13, 2014:

    1. the first return was to a page on the website of Andrew Vachss, an American lawyer. The page has links to only 16 organizations, only 10 of the links work, and only 8 of of the organizations are outside North America. By comparison, the HotPeachPages has more than 8 links for El Salvador, for example, and probably links to a thousand organizations in total. 1,000 organizations vs. 16? Andrew Vachss's page returns higher simply because it came online before the HotPeachPages did.

    2. the second return was the HotPeachPages, but because I searched from Canada, the return was to HotPeachPages Canada. Even though I used "international" in my search, and not "Canada", Google decided I wanted Canada.

  3. Two searches: When a person uses Google to search for help organizations in India, for instance, then wants to find abuse information in Hindi, he/she has to do another search. A person who starts on the HotPeachPages can find both country and language resources on the HotPeachPages, and easily, e.g. India.

  4. I've spent thousands of hours using Google to search the internet so abused women and their direct service providers don't have to.
